Wunderbar – following in the footsteps of his successful brothers?
With Desperado as his sire and a dam who has already produced several notable stallion prospects, Wunderbar has a pedigree that immediately catches the eye. An appealing colt for those looking for a prospect for stallion rearing, but equally for anyone seeking a future dressage horse with the potential to progress towards the higher levels of the sport.
Sire Desperado (s. Vivaldi) enjoyed a successful international Grand Prix career under Emmelie Scholtens and represented the Netherlands as part of the Dutch dressage team. His offspring are also appreciated for qualities that matter greatly in dressage: a willing temperament, rideability and a genuine desire to work with their rider.
It is particularly Wunderbar's damline, however, that makes him an appealing prospect for stallion rearing. His dam Havanta (s. Fürst Romancier) is an Elite, IBOP-dressage, PROK, D-OC mare. She achieved an excellent score of 80.5 points in her IBOP and, as a young mare, was selected for the Dutch National Mare Championships (NMK).
Havanta has already demonstrated her qualities as a dam of successful stallion prospects. Her son O'Roark (s. For Ferrero) advanced to the second round of the KWPN Stallion Selection in 2022. His younger half-brother Très Beau (s. Kyton) went one step further: in 2025, he was selected for the KWPN Performance Test and was also named a Premium Stallion.
Wunderbar is therefore another colt out of a mare who has already proven her ability to produce sons that distinguish themselves within the KWPN stallion selection process. Combined with Grand Prix stallion Desperado as his sire, this makes Wunderbar a particularly appealing prospect for stallion rearing.
The remainder of the damline further underlines the performance potential of this family. Through Covanta (s. Oscar) and Tovanta (s. Jazz), the line has also produced international Grand Prix dressage gelding Lord Platinum (s. Ferguson).
